from true family. Sperm "donation", egg "donation"
and embryo "donation" are all forms of adoption from the
viewpoint of the child growing up "owned by" unrelated people
who have removed his access to - and right to be raised by - his real
mother, father and other family members.

Note that this paragraph originally referred to the actual family
members as if they were only a "biological identity" -
as if they were not human beings, related to one another. They use
the term "donors" who want to shed their anonymity - but
perhaps it would be more honest to acknowledge that these "donors"
are actually the fathers of the children. The male person raising
the child is not the father, even if he is a wonderful caregiver.

The big question - why does American law not protect children
by outlawing the the creation of "orphans" via surrogacy,
donor insemination and egg and embryo donation? Why not make it illegal
to solicit or pay someone for their eggs or sperm from which their
own son or daughter may be created and yet be cut off from them?
Why not AT LEAST ensure the human beings created through reproductive
technologies like sperm donation, egg donation and embryo donation
have access to their true parents and siblings?
